HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — A Lumberton man who was first arrested in Jasper County earlier this month has bonded out of the Hardin County Jail after prosecutors filed additional felony charges stemming from a violent 2024 case. Newly obtained court records reveal disturbing details of the allegations.
Remington Duvall Boykin, 26, was arrested on August 31, 2025, in Jasper County after deputies say he assaulted a woman and injured a 3-month-old child in the Tiger Creek community. As previously reported by the East Texas Banner on September 1, Boykin was booked into the Jasper County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, injury to a child with criminal negligence, and interfering with an emergency request for assistance. He was also wanted out of Jefferson County on a felony warrant for tampering with a government record.
On September 3, 2025, prosecutors in Hardin County filed three additional charges tied to a separate case from 2024 involving Boykin’s former girlfriend.
Allegations from 2024
According to probable cause affidavits filed in Hardin County, the woman reported that Boykin threatened and assaulted her at their Lumberton home between August 1–5, 2024.
According to the affidavit, a series of violent incidents unfolded on August 3, 2024:
She said Boykin had hidden her phone for several days and became enraged when confronted.
As she walked down the road to call for help, Boykin allegedly pulled up in his truck, brandished a gun, and forced her back into the house.
Once inside, he reportedly accused her of involving family and threatened her with the chilling words: “How deep do you want your grave?”
The affidavit states Boykin carried her to the bedroom, threw her on the bed, and smothered her face with pillows three times before she kicked him off.
He then allegedly grabbed her by the throat and choked her so hard “everything started going black” until she thought she was going to die.
Recorded Phone Call
On September 4, 2024, the woman provided investigators with a recorded phone call in which Boykin allegedly acknowledged the assault. According to the affidavit, Boykin responded to her references about the gun, choking, and smothering by saying:
“One mistake I made in my life, with you.”
“I let my anger get the best of me.”
“I’ll make sure I don’t ever do it again.”
“I made a mistake, it happens.”
New Charges Filed
Based on those allegations, Boykin was charged in Hardin County with:
Aggravated Kidnapping (first-degree felony)
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Family Violence (first-degree felony)
Aggravated Assault Impeding Breath or Circulation/Family Violence (second-degree felony)
If convicted of the first-degree felonies, he could face up to life in prison.
Booking and Bond
Hardin County Jail officials confirmed to the East Texas Banner Wednesday night that Boykin was booked on September 17, 2025, on the new charges and later bonded out the same day.
Boykin remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
