HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — A Lumberton man who was first arrested in Jasper County earlier this month is now being held in the Hardin County Jail, where he faces new charges connected to a 2024 case.
Remington Duvall Boykin, 26, was arrested on August 31, 2025 in Jasper County after deputies say he assaulted a woman and injured a 3-month-old child in the Tiger Creek community. At that time, Boykin was booked into the Jasper County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, injury to a child with criminal negligence, and interfering with an emergency request for assistance. He was also wanted out of Jefferson County on a felony warrant for tampering with a government record.
That arrest was first reported by the East Texas Banner on September 1, 2025.
Now, prosecutors in Hardin County have filed additional charges stemming from a separate incident in August 2024 involving Boykin’s then-girlfriend. According to court affidavits, she told investigators Boykin pulled a gun on her, forced her back into their home, smothered her with pillows, and choked her until she nearly lost consciousness.
A recorded phone call later provided to investigators allegedly captured Boykin admitting to the assault, saying, “I let my anger get the best of me” and “I’ll make sure I don’t ever do it again.”
Based on those allegations, Boykin now faces three felony charges in Hardin County:
Two first-degree felonies of aggravated kidnapping with family violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon involving family violence.
One second-degree felony of aggravated assault family/house member impede breath/circulation.
Boykin remains in custody at the Hardin County Jail. All charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
