JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Lumberton man Sunday evening following an alleged violent assault that left a woman and her infant child injured.
On August 31, 2025, at approximately 6:55 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on County Road 222 in the Tiger Creek community after receiving a report of a male assaulting a female and making threats with a shotgun.
When deputies arrived, the suspect had fled the scene. They discovered the victim and her three-month-old baby both sustained visible injuries.
The suspect was identified as Remington Boykin, 26, of Lumberton. Investigators determined Boykin assaulted the woman and, in the course of the attack, recklessly injured the child. Authorities say Boykin also displayed a shotgun while threatening to kill the victim and himself.
Deputies later located Boykin in the nearby woods and took him into custody without further incident.
Boykin now faces multiple charges, including:
Interfering with Emergency Request for Assistance – Misdemeanor A
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Second-Degree Felony
Injury to a Child with Criminal Negligence – State Jail Felony
In addition, Boykin was wanted out of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for Tampering with a Government Record (Second-Degree Felony).
He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said his office remains committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
Boykin remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
