UPDATE: Buna Man Arrested Following Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 62

JASPER COUNTY — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday night on State Highway 62, just north of County Road 826 in south Jasper County.
According to DPS, the preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 8 p.m., a 2014 Ford pickup was traveling north when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.
The driver, identified as 39-year-old Cody Clark of Buna, was not injured. DPS reports that Clark was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter, a felony offense, and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
This remains an ongoing investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety – Southeast Texas Region.
