Woman Killed in Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 62

SOUTH JASPER COUNTY — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office confirms that one woman has died following an auto-pedestrian crash Tuesday evening on Highway 62, just South of County Road 826.
Sheriff Chuck Havard stated that the female pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver remained on location and is cooperating with investigators.
Both lanes of Highway 62 remain shut down as deputies and first responders continue working the scene. Havard said traffic is expected to remain closed for at least another hour to an hour and a half while the investigation continues.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has taken charge of the crash investigation.
