Newton Police Chief Will Jackson said today that around 1:30 Monday morning, Newton Police were dispatched to the 300 block of College St, for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located the body of 34-year-old Tamarcus Traylor, who died from apparent gunshot wounds.

Several news agencies have reported that the shooting appears to have happened during a home invasion or robbery, however Newton Police Chief Will Jackson said that there is no evidence of that at this time.

Law enforcement continues to search for the suspects which fled in what appeared to be a black or dark color car, possibly a Chrysler 300.
