JASPER COUNTY — A GoFundMe has been created to assist the family of 31-year-old Britany Esquivel of Groves, who was killed Tuesday night in an auto-pedestrian crash on Highway 62 in south Jasper County.
The fundraiser, organized by Esquivel’s stepsister, describes the tragedy as “completely unexpected,” and says she is doing what she can to help the family during an unimaginable time.
“We have no clue how much it’s going to cost to put her to rest, but I do know anything would help,” the post reads. “Anything is appreciated, and if you can’t donate, please just keep our family and her children in your prayers — we could really use them.”
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Esquivel was struck by a northbound 2014 Ford pickup while walking along Highway 62 around 8 p.m. Tuesday. The driver, identified as 39-year-old Cody Clark of Buna, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
The GoFundMe page states that all proceeds will go toward funeral expenses and support for Esquivel’s child and family.
