JASPER COUNTY — A Buna man has been arrested following an investigation into a stolen company vehicle reported earlier this year, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 3, 2026, deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the theft of a company truck belonging to STI Group, located in Buna. Investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen from the business earlier that morning.

With the assistance of security camera footage and information provided by STI Group employees, investigators were able to quickly identify persons of interest and locate the stolen truck a short time later.

On the evening of February 3, 2026, Christopher Hand, 35, of Buna, was arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle. Hand has been charged with State Jail Felony Theft of Property greater than $2,500 but less than $30,000.

Hand is currently being held in the Jasper County Jail.

As with all criminal cases, Hand is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff Chuck Havard said he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity throughout Jasper County.

The investigation remains ongoing.
