It was a day of celebration, resilience, and community pride Friday afternoon as Wrightway Assistant Living officially held its ribbon cutting ceremony at 41 Chestnut Circle, Jasper, Texas.
Owners Kita and Lonnie Wright shared their remarkable journey with guests, reflecting on the challenges that nearly derailed their dream — from the devastation of Hurricane Beryl to unexpected regulatory hurdles. After months of repairs, inspections, and setbacks, the Wrights were finally able to declare victory and open their facility’s doors.
“We’re losing our elderly to other cities,” Kita Wright said during earlier discussions with the Jasper City Council. “They deserve to age with dignity—right here in Jasper.”
That vision is now a reality with Wrightway Assistant Living, a facility designed to keep local seniors closer to home while receiving specialized, compassionate care, including for Alzheimer’s and dementia. The center features seven bedrooms and three baths, with a staff trained to support residents with medication management, daily living tasks, and personal care needs. Wrightway is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced professionals, all focused on maintaining dignity, independence, and a sense of community for residents.
According to the Wrights, the project will also create up to 10 new local jobs, strengthening both the social and economic fabric of Jasper.
In a statement, the Jasper-Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the milestone, saying:
“What a wonderful addition to our community! Formerly Rosewood Assisted Living, Wrightway has updated and has space for over 10 patients. We are proud to call them Chamber family.”
Wrightway’s mission is to provide compassionate and personalized care to residents while promoting their independence and dignity. The staff is dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming environment where seniors can feel at home, supported, and respected.
