Wanted Fugitive Arrested in Evadale

EVADALE, Texas — A wanted fugitive was taken into custody Sunday following an arrest by Jasper County deputies in the Evadale area.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, on January 18, 2026, Deputies Kaylor and Morgan responded to a residence in the 4000 block of FM 1131 while attempting to locate a wanted individual. Deputies made contact with Stephen Costlow, 59, of Vidor, and placed him under arrest without incident.
Authorities said Costlow had three active warrants for Bail Jumping. The original underlying charges include Stalking (Felony 3), Evading Arrest or Detention (Class A Misdemeanor), and Violation of a Bond or Protective Order (Class A Misdemeanor).
Costlow was transported to the Jasper County Jail, where he was booked on the outstanding warrants.
As with all cases, Costlow is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard stated that he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity and ensuring public safety throughout Jasper County.
