On the evening of July 10, 2025, Joshua Maddox, 47, of Colmesneil, fled from two Jasper County deputies after providing a false name during a roadside encounter on County Road 32. Maddox, who had multiple outstanding felony warrants, ran into a heavily wooded area to avoid arrest.
Authorities later confirmed that Maddox was wanted on a State Jail Felony warrant out of Tyler County for Evading Arrest with a Previous Conviction, as well as a Jasper County warrant for Motion to Revoke – Assault Family Violence by Strangulation, a Third-Degree Felony. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist with the manhunt, and a drone was deployed to aid in the search; however, Maddox was not located at that time.
The following day, July 11, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Maddox had been seen walking along County Road 32. Deputies, including Chief Deputy Larry Pulliam, responded immediately and located him near the area. Maddox once again attempted to flee on foot and was ultimately TASERED in order to be safely taken into custody.
He was transported to the Jasper County Jail and booked on the outstanding felony warrants. Additional charges from Jasper County are pending, including Evading Arrest with a Prior Conviction (State Jail Felony) and Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice (Class A Misdemeanor).
Maddox is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard expressed appreciation for the teamwork that led to the arrest, stating,
“Our office remains committed to tracking down fugitives and keeping Jasper County safe. I’d like to thank the alert residents in the area, as well as Texas DPS and Jasper Police Department, for their assistance in bringing Mr. Maddox into custody.”
