Update: Parnell Employee No Longer with School Following Investigation

In a follow-up to the May 1st East Texas Banner article detailing an internal and external investigation at Parnell Elementary, school officials have now confirmed that the employee in question is no longer with the campus.

The update was shared in an official message from Parnell Elementary Administration on June 4, following a full internal review and developments in the external investigation, including charges filed by the Jasper Police Department. While specific details remain limited due to privacy and the active nature of the case, school leaders emphasized swift and responsible action was taken from the outset.

Important Message for Parnell Elementary Families June 4, 2025 Dear Parnell Elementary Parents and Guardians, We want to inform you that, following a full internal review and the progress of an external investigation, an employee who was previously placed on administrative leave is no longer employed at Parnell Elementary. This decision comes in light of charges filed by the Jasper Police Department related to a reported incident. Due to the nature of the investigation and out of respect for the privacy of those involved, we are limited in the details we can share at this time. However, we want to assure you that from the moment the allegations came to light, we acted swiftly and responsibly—removing the employee from campus, notifying the authorities, and cooperating fully with law enforcement. Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of your children. We remain committed to providing a safe, supportive learning environment for every student. The school is operating as normal, and we have made counseling and support services available to any students or families who may have concerns.
