UPDATE: One Driver Cited in Wednesday Afternoon Collision on Highway 96

New information has been released regarding the two-vehicle collision that occurred around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Houston Street and Highway 96, directly in front of Jasper Exxon Towing.
According to the official crash report from the Jasper Police Department, a gray Dodge Ram 1500, driven by 70-year-old Philip Pate of Pineland, was traveling southbound on Highway 96. Pate failed to stop at the red light at Houston Street, resulting in a collision with a gray Kia Forte.
The Kia, driven by 79-year-old Connie Townsend of Jasper, was attempting to cross the intersection when it struck the rear-left side of the Dodge truck.
The Kia struck the Dodge near the left rear tire, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.
Three individuals were involved in the accident. One person was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital by Allegiance EMS for evaluation. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Jasper Exxon.
