UPDATE: Horse Owner Identified in Fatal Orange County Crash

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers have identified the owner of the horse involved in the fatal Orange County crash that claimed the life of a Kirbyville man earlier this month.
According to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard, the identification was made possible due to an overwhelming response from the public following the release of information and photographs related to the incident.
The crash occurred on December 19, 2025, in Orange County and involved John Thomas Loyd, a Jasper County resident.
“Due to the overwhelming responses from the public, Texas DPS Troopers have identified the owner of the horse involved in the Orange County fatality crash,” Sheriff Havard said. “We appreciate all the shares and tips.”
The investigation into the crash remains under the authority of the Texas Department of Public Safety. No additional details were released at this time.
