Tyler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Fred man late Monday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of multiple controlled substances, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were patrolling the Fred area around 11 p.m. on Feb. 3 when they stopped a Kia passenger vehicle on County Road 4640 for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as 43-year-old Kevin Eason of Fred.
While speaking with the driver, deputies reported detecting the odor of burning marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Eason allegedly admitted to being in possession of a marijuana cigarette.
A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of a glass smoking pipe containing approximately 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, along with a marijuana cigarette. Deputies also reported finding approximately 22 grams of testosterone that was not prescribed to Eason, which they say was concealed in his sock.
Eason was transported to the Tyler County Jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (testosterone), and possession of marijuana.
Justice of the Peace officials set Eason’s bonds totaling $40,000.
The investigation was conducted by the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office.
