With hurricane season officially beginning June 1 and running through November 30, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has released updated evacuation route maps for 2025, including critical paths through the Beaumont District and surrounding areas.
The newly released map outlines major evacuation routes, EvacuLanes, and potential contraflow corridors to be activated in the event of a mandatory evacuation. These routes are designed to help coastal and Southeast Texas residents safely and efficiently relocate inland ahead of severe weather threats.
Residents in Jasper, Tyler, Hardin, Orange, and Jefferson counties should take special note of marked routes like U.S. 96, U.S. 69, and U.S. 287, which serve as primary evacuation corridors. TxDOT is urging all residents to make a plan now, know their route, and stay informed throughout the season.
Motorists are asked to:
Be courteous and cautious on the road.
Obey all traffic laws and signage during evacuations.
Stay updated via DriveTexas.org, which provides real-time road conditions statewide.
TxDOT oversees more than 80,000 miles of roadways and plays a critical role in hurricane preparedness efforts, ensuring safe evacuation paths for Texans in vulnerable regions.
