JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Two women were arrested Sunday in South Jasper County following what authorities describe as a forced entry and assault inside a residence.
According to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard, deputies were dispatched February 15, 2026, to the 600 block of County Road 828, also known as Sunset Drive, in reference to a Burglary of a Habitation.
Deputy Walker and Deputy Daigle arrived on scene and made contact with the victim, who reported that two females — identified as Emily Cowart, 21, of Vidor, and Casey Guerrero, 38, of Groves — broke into her home and assaulted her.

Authorities say the victim told deputies the incident stemmed from an earlier argument. According to the report, the suspects allegedly gained entry through a window, then forcefully kicked open the victim’s bedroom door before attacking her.
Both suspects remained on scene when deputies arrived after their vehicle reportedly became stuck in the mud.
Cowart and Guerrero were taken into custody and charged with Burglary of a Habitation, a Second Degree Felony. They were transported and booked into the Jasper County Jail.
Both women are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Havard stated that he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
