Two-vehicle accident South of Kirbyville Wednesday, sends one to the hospital

At approximately 3:50 pm Wednesday, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders, Kirbyville Police Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety were called out to Hwy 96 South of Kirbyville for a two-vehicle accident which included a Freightliner Van.

According to the DPS report, a 2001 Dodge Ram was traveling south behind a 2024 Freightliner Van. The driver of the Dodge failed to control her speed and struck the freightliner in the rear.

The driver of the Dodge, identified as a 56-year-old Denise Bone of Bon Wier, was not injured, however, the driver of the Freightliner, identified as 41-year-old Richard Lequire of Lufkin, was transported to Urgent Doc Lufkin for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
