At 8:56 Sunday morning, the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to FM 363 in Newton County to assist Trout Creek VFD with a truck fire. The driver realized he was close to Ellis Truck and Trailer, so he drove the short distance into Jasper County to that location.

KVFD Chief Deputy Kennon Ellis said, "The truck, owned by Triumph Energy Services, was traveling down FM363 towards Kirbyville when the driver realized his trailer tires were on fire. He was able to stop safely at Ellis'."

Trout Creek VFD also responded because initially, the call was inside Newton County.

When asked about the cause of the fire, Ellis added, "We're not sure of the cause, but both tires caught fire and blew out. It was possible that the brakes overheated on the trailer. "

There were no injuries reported.

KVFD responded with 2 firetrucks and was able to extinguish the blaze using 500 gallons of water.
