Updated information:

Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster has issued the following statement regarding this accident:

"On Saturday, June 28, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Officer Oxener and Sergeant Fowler of the Jasper Police Department responded to a report of a tractor trailer involved in a traffic accident at 1200 West Milam. Upon arrival, multiple agencies were already on scene securing the west side of the incident. Officer Oxener proceeded to the east side to ensure the area was fully secured and that traffic was safely diverted.

At the time of arrival, the cargo section of the tractor trailer was found elevated and entangled in overhead cable lines, rendering the vehicle immobile and canted. The driver, identified as Kevin Darsy, a white male born October 15, 1963, reported no injuries and advised that the accident occurred due to driver distraction.

Given the nature of the entanglement, the Jasper City Power Department, Jasper Fire Department, and Exxon Towing were requested and responded to the scene. Exxon Towing was contacted at the request of the vehicle owner.

With traffic control maintained by Officer Oxener and Sergeant Fowler, utility and emergency crews were able to safely disentangle the vehicle without causing any damage to the truck or surrounding infrastructure.

After the roadway was cleared, all responding units departed the scene. The vehicle involved bore Texas license plate number 1N18351. No injuries or property damage were reported."

JASPER, TX-

A truck has turned over onto power lines at the corner of Milam and Burch Streets in Jasper. We are currently waiting for the official report, but at this time it appears as if the bed was in the raised position when the driver attempted to drive under the power lines. Power and Internet outages resulted from the accident.

We are awaiting word from the Jasper Police Department and will update our readers when information is made available.
