The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor the disturbance in the northern Gulf for development today. While the chance of any organized tropical development remains low, we will begin to feel that tropical like air mass overspread the area today.

By this afternoon it'll feel pretty soupy out there, and showers and storms will begin to spread across the region as the disturbance draws closer.

Several rounds of showers and storms can be expected through the next couple of days as the disturbance approaches and passes to our south, and some of this convection could lead to flash flooding.

This set up looks pretty similar to what we saw last week, so we aren't expecting any widespread flooding issues, but if you get caught under one of those heavy downpours that fails to really move much some ponding on roadways/low lying areas is likely.

Periods of heavy rain associated with the tropical disturbance moving across the northern gulf will carry a risk of flooding today through Saturday. Rainfall totals of 1-3 inches are expected with a few areas seeing up to 8 inches.

After a few wet and muggy days, we return to a hot and dry weather early next week.
