Tri-County Community Action seeking board members to represent low-income residents

Tri-County Community Action, Inc. is seeking individuals to serve as Representatives of the Poor on its Board of Directors, with two vacancies currently available.

According to the organization, one board position will represent Sabine, San Augustine, and Shelby counties, while the second position will represent Jasper, Newton, and Tyler counties.

Applicants must reside in one of the counties associated with the position and must be low-income or have recent, firsthand experience with poverty-related challenges. No prior board or leadership experience is required, and training will be provided to selected applicants.

Representatives of the Poor serve a critical role on the board by ensuring that the voices and lived experiences of low-income residents are reflected in policy decisions, program development, and community services.

Tri-County Community Action officials said the positions offer an opportunity for residents to help shape programs that directly impact families and individuals across East Texas.
