Around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to a pasture fire approximately four miles northeast of Highway 96 on FM 1005, between County Roads 338 and 339.

A nearby resident reported the fire, noting that it was spreading toward a large tree. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and successfully contained the blaze by 8:30 p.m.

East Texas Banner was on the scene and spoke with Tri-Community VFD Public Information Officer Paul Rutledge, who stated that the cause of the fire remains unknown. The fire burned approximately half an acre, no structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

While Jasper County is not currently under a burn ban, residents are urged to be mindful of fire safety. With heavy wind conditions expected over the next several days, even a small fire can spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Officials encourage the public to exercise caution when burning outdoors and to report any signs of fire immediately.
