RUSK, Texas — The community of Rusk will soon have the opportunity to honor America’s fallen service members as The American Veterans Traveling Tributes' (AVTT) Traveling Vietnam Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute makes a stop in Cherokee County.
The tribute will be on display at 5592 State Highway 110, Rusk, TX 75785, in partnership with Branded by Christ Cowboy Church. Organizers say the double-sided replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial stands 6 feet tall and stretches 89 feet in length.
“Remembering and respecting our Veterans for the selfless sacrifices they have made is one of our greatest responsibilities as citizens of this state and nation,” said John Chandler. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. The American Veterans Traveling Tribute offers the people, alongside Veterans, the chance to pay their respects to our nation’s fallen warriors and gain a deeper appreciation for all those who have answered the call to service.”
In addition to the Vietnam Wall replica, the exhibit includes the Cost of Freedom Tribute, which honors service members who gave their lives in major U.S. conflicts, including World War I, World War II, Korea, Desert Storm, Somalia, the September 11 attacks, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
According to Kylah Doherty, event coordinator for the tribute, organizers are looking forward to bringing the experience to Rusk.
“We are excited to partner with the Branded by Christ Cowboy Church to offer this experience and make this event one to remember,” Doherty said.
The traveling exhibit moves across the country with a mission not only to honor the fallen but also to educate younger generations about the sacrifices made in defense of freedom. Organizers are currently seeking community volunteers, donations, and participation to help support the event.
