WOODVILLE, Texas — A traffic stop on Highway 190 West ended in a felony drug arrest last week after Tyler County deputies discovered suspected cocaine in a vehicle during a roadside investigation.
According to the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a small passenger car around 11:40 a.m. on October 17, 2025, while patrolling the west side of the county.
The driver, who identified himself as Jimmy Scott, 44, of Cypress, reportedly did not have a valid driver’s license or any identification on him. Deputies asked Scott to step out of the vehicle to continue the traffic stop safely.
As he exited the car, deputies observed him drop a plastic baggie containing a white substance near the driver’s door. The baggie was retrieved and tested positive for cocaine, weighing approximately 14.5 grams.

Scott was arrested at the scene and transported to the Tyler County Jail, where he was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $150,000 by Justice of the Peace Tina Self.
The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office credited the quick actions of deputies for safely removing drugs from circulation and reminded the public that anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS (8477).
