Kirbyville, Texas — A routine patrol in the Kirbyville area led to a felony arrest this week after a Jasper County deputy located a wanted suspect out of Newton County.
On December 4, 2025, Deputy Tipton with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The driver, identified as Rebecca Cofty Knight, 62, of Kirbyville, was found to have an active State Jail Felony warrant from Newton County for Credit/Debit Card Abuse.
The warrant was confirmed on scene. Knight was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
As always, all individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard emphasized that he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity and keeping Jasper County residents safe.
