HEMPHILL, Texas — The Sabine County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple arrests tied to methamphetamine possession and probation violations following separate incidents on December 29 and 30, 2025.

According to the sheriff’s office, during the early evening hours of December 29, deputies observed a cream-colored Lincoln traveling in the area of Cedar Grove Road and Texas Highway 21 with an equipment violation. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver continued northbound on Cedar Grove Road before eventually being safely stopped.

The driver, identified as Charles Lamar Basco, 54, of Milam, was found to be in possession of approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine, which deputies say he had concealed in the waistband area of his pants. Basco reportedly told deputies there should have been two baggies of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a second baggie containing approximately 3 additional grams of methamphetamine in the driver’s area.

Basco was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, along with multiple additional charges related to the status of his driver’s license. He was booked into the Sabine County Jail and was awaiting bond at the time of the report.

The following morning, on December 30, deputies stopped a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of James and Bailey streets in Bronson for a traffic violation after observing the driver not wearing a seat belt.

The driver, Frank Edward Woolf, 60, of Milam, turned over a marijuana pipe during initial contact with deputies. A search of the vehicle later revealed a baggie hidden inside a cigarette pack in the driver’s area containing approximately 1.3 grams of methamphetamine.

Woolf was arrested and booked into the Sabine County Jail, where he is also awaiting the setting of bond.

In a separate action related to the ongoing investigation, deputies arrested Johnny Dale Dickerson, 53, of Bronson, who was already an inmate in the Sabine County Jail. Dickerson was taken into custody on four motions to revoke community supervision. Authorities say Dickerson was on probation for drug-related offenses when he became a subject of Operation Crystal Ball, and his probation revocation is now being handled through the courts.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
