Jasper Police Department Provides Update on Ongoing Investigation

Jasper, TX – The Jasper Police Department is committed to keeping the public informed regarding the ongoing investigation into the officers involved shooting while executing a search warrant that occurred on June 4, 2024. As part of our efforts to ensure transparency and maintain public trust, we are providing the following update.

A photograph has been released depicting the firearm that was in the possession of Elvin Dean Land at the time of the incident. In addition to the firearm in Mr. Land’s possession, another firearm and approximately 422.9 grams (approximately 1/2 pound) of suspected cocaine were seized from the residence during the execution of the search warrant.

The investigation is still ongoing, and we continue to work diligently to uncover all the facts surrounding this case.
