Task Force 1 on Standby in Jasper County with Boats Ready for Flood Response

JASPER County— Six members of Texas A&M Task Force 1 are on standby in Jasper County, equipped with two boats and ready to deploy if needed for water rescues.


The highly trained team specializes in swift water rescue operations and was pre-positioned locally through coordination with the Texas Department of Emergency Management.
“We appreciate our partnership with TDEM and thank them for sending resources to help us and surrounding counties if needed,” said Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard. “Hopefully, we will not need their services, but members of JCSO and other first responders will work shoulder to shoulder with them if the need arises.”
At this time, weather forecasts are not predicting a major flooding event. Sheriff Havard added that Task Force 1 members will remain in Jasper County as long as conditions warrant, leaving only once it’s determined their services are no longer necessary.
