Sunday afternoon accident at Rayburn

Lake Rayburn Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of FM 1007 and Wingate Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

The Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 1:30 p.m., a 1997 Chevrolet pickup was traveling north on F.M. 1007. It is reported that a 2023 Acura SUV was at the stop sign on Wingate Blvd. and failed to yield to the Chevrolet, pulled into its path and was struck."

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 62-year-old Michael Minton of Brookeland, was not injured.

The driver of the Acura and one passenger, were also not injured. The driver is identified as 77-year-old Tandy Boyd of Brookeland.

Lake Rayburn VFD kept traffic moving until the roadway was cleared. They responded with 2 apparatus and 9 firefighters.
