At 1:17 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department, Trout Creek VFD, and Tri-Community VFD were called out to 1102 FM 1013 West of Kirbyville for a storage container fire.
Kirbyville VFD Truck Captain Michael Swan said that the container was a Conex storage container that was being converted into a shop. Swan added that the owner was trying to cut out a piece of the wall when it caught fire.
The fire was contained to just the storage container itself. Swan said that the material he was cutting created a radiant heat that melted light outlets and an air conditioner. But most of the damage was to the container itself.
There were no injuries reported, but the container was a complete loss.
