BASTROP COUNTY, Texas — SpaceX is investing $8 million to expand its Starlink complex near Bastrop, adding roughly 80,000 square feet of office space, according to a recent state filing. Construction is slated to begin Sept. 24, 2025, with completion targeted for January 2026.

The build-out continues a multi-year growth plan backed by the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund: in March 2025, the state awarded SpaceX $17.3 million to support semiconductor R&D and advanced-packaging work at the same campus—an expansion expected to create 400+ jobs and more than $280 million in capital investment.
Bastrop’s Starlink site manufactures hardware for the company’s satellite internet service. The new office space follows a large footprint added in 2024, and reporting indicates the complex is on track to surpass 1.5 million square feet as SpaceX scales production of user kits and related components.
Why it matters for East Texas: While SpaceX has not announced region-specific service changes with this filing, a larger Central Texas campus could improve hardware availability and shipping timelines as demand grows—good news for households and small businesses across East Texas that rely on Starlink where fiber or cable options are limited. (We’ll watch for concrete updates on inventory, lead times, and any hiring that touches our region.)
What’s next: Site work is scheduled to start Sept. 24. ETB will track schedule milestones, job postings tied to the Bastrop campus, and any production notes that affect how quickly Starlink equipment reaches East Texas addresses.
