A special event aimed at supporting veterans, their families, and the homeless is scheduled for Friday, August 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jasper County Annex Building, located at 271 East Lamar in Jasper (with parking available on the Houston Street side).
Hosted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the State of Texas, and numerous nonprofit organizations, Southeast Texas Stand Down 2025 will provide a wide range of free services and resources.
Offerings include:
Clothing and duffle bags for those who qualify.
Medical and mental health screenings.
COVID-19 vaccinations.
Substance abuse and HIV/AIDS information.
Legal assistance and VA claims support.
SNAP (food stamps) info.
Help with DD214 documentation.
Services specifically for women veterans.
Housing and shelter resources.
Over 25 local nonprofits on-site offering direct aid.
Lunch will be served, and door prizes will be available throughout the day.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a form of ID (such as a Texas driver’s license, military ID, or Social Security card). Veterans seeking surplus military items must provide proof of service, such as a DD-214 or Veterans ID.
This community outreach event is made possible by partners including the American Red Cross, VA, VAV, SETRPC, Linebarger Attorneys at Law, and others.
For those who serve or have served — and for those in need — this event is a step toward hope, healing, and resources.
