JASPER COUNTY, Texas – Fourteen volunteer firefighters from across Jasper County and surrounding areas have completed the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course through TEEX – Fire and Emergency Services, further strengthening emergency response capabilities in the region.

The training began June 23 with online coursework and concluded this past weekend at Jasper Volunteer Fire Department Station 1, where participants spent 36 hours over three days in intensive skills training and testing. Instructors covered a wide range of lifesaving procedures including airway and cardiac management, patient assessment, trauma care, bleeding control, immobilization, obstetrics, and mass casualty response.
Upon completion of the course, participants are eligible to take the National Registry exam to become certified Emergency Medical Responders.

The course was hosted with the support of Jasper County Emergency Services District #4, which organized logistics and provided meals, and Jasper VFD, which supplied facilities for the training. TEEX instructors traveled to Jasper to lead the course, ensuring local firefighters received advanced, hands-on instruction close to home.
This certification expands the ability of local volunteer firefighters to provide critical care in the moments before EMS crews arrive, underscoring their commitment to protecting and serving their communities.
