Single-Vehicle Crash Sends Jasper Woman to Hospital Wednesday Morning

CALL, Texas (Jasper County) – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, October 22, 2025, on U.S. Highway 96 near Call.
According to the preliminary crash investigation, at approximately 6:10 a.m., a Kia Rio traveling southbound left the roadway to the right, struck an embankment, and overturned.
The driver, 43-year-old Katy Bainum of Jasper, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, DPS said.
Photos from the scene, taken shortly after the crash, were provided to the East Texas Banner by Madeleine Lassiter, who granted permission for publication.
The incident remains under investigation by Texas DPS.
