Early Friday morning at 1:31 a.m., a Jasper County deputy was patrolling the far south end of the county in the Evadale area. He conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.
The driver was identified as 28-year-old Garrett Taylor Lejune of Silsbee.
During the stop, the deputy said that he developed reasonable suspicion that the driver and passenger were engaged in some sort of criminal activity. Lejune then admitted that he was in possession of a handgun hidden in the car and that he was on probation.
The deputy confirmed that Lejune was currently out of jail on bond and that he had bond restrictions prohibiting him from being in possession of a firearm.
Lejune was then placed under arrest for Violate Bond/ Protective Order- Class A Misdemeanor and placed in the Jasper County Jail.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard wants to remind the public that Lejune is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. He and his staff are committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
