JASPER COUNTY, Texas — On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Texas Department of Public Safety to apprehend a wanted fugitive out of Florida.
Authorities located Rashaun Mitchell, 29, of Florida, at a residence in the 1100 block of County Road 520 in the Magnolia Springs area. Mitchell, who was wanted on numerous narcotics charges, two escape charges, resisting arrest, and assault, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Sheriff Chuck Havard emphasized his department’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the community through strong partnerships with state and federal agencies.
“Working together across jurisdictions is critical in keeping dangerous individuals off our streets,” Havard said. “We will continue to support our law enforcement partners and remain vigilant in combating criminal activity in Jasper County.”
Mitchell remains in custody pending further legal proceedings. As with all criminal cases, he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
