Sheriff Havard Hires Brian Marshall as New Assistant Jail Administrator

JASPER COUNTY — Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard announced this week that Brian Marshall has been hired as the new Assistant Jail Administrator for the Jasper County Jail, with his start date set for February 6, 2026.

Marshall brings more than three decades of correctional experience to the role. He began his career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in January 1992 and served at eight different correctional facilities across three regions during his tenure. Over the course of his career, he worked his way up through the ranks to Assistant Warden.

He retired from TDCJ on August 31, 2024, after serving as Assistant Warden at the Skyview Unit in Rusk, Texas.

Marshall has lived in Jasper for the past 10 years and is married with three daughters.

“Brian brings a great deal of experience to the Jasper County Jail,” Sheriff Havard said. “I have instructed both him and Joe Pomponio to make sure we are always improving the safety, efficiency, and cleanliness of our jail. Additionally, they both have my full authority to ensure we are doing everything possible to get the men and women that we have incarcerated the help they need so they can stay out of jail and be productive.”

Sheriff Havard emphasized accountability and professionalism as key priorities moving forward.

“One of Brian’s main responsibilities will be to make sure our employees and inmates have the highest amount of accountability. I expect our employees to maintain and conduct themselves with the highest level of professionalism and dedication,” Havard said. “Brian is a seasoned veteran and will be an excellent addition to our team.”

Sheriff Havard concluded the announcement by congratulating Marshall on his new role.
