Sex Offender Compliance Operation Conducted in Newton County

Newton County, TX — Multiple law enforcement agencies joined forces Wednesday, August 6, for a multi-jurisdictional sex offender compliance check across Newton County. The coordinated operation aimed to ensure registered sex offenders are adhering to the legal requirements of their status.

According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, several individuals were found to be out of compliance. Details from the checks are being compiled and will be submitted to a judge, with potential arrest warrants to follow.

Sheriff Colton Havard thanked the United States Marshal’s Service, Newton Police Department, Newton County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and Constables from Precincts 1 and 4 for their participation in the enforcement effort.

“These compliance checks will continue, and sex offender laws will be strictly enforced,” Sheriff Havard said. “Anyone with a status change—whether it’s address, vehicle, employment, or social media username—must update their information immediately.”

The operation is part of the Sheriff’s ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and enforce state-mandated sex offender registration laws.
