Schools Monitor Impending Winter Weather Across East Texas

School districts are closely monitoring an approaching winter weather system expected to impact the region this weekend, with the potential for freezing rain, sleet, and snow.
Onalaska ISD: will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Big Sandy ISD: will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Hemphill ISD: will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Silsbee ISD: will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Goodrich ISD: will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Livingston ISD: will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Deweyville ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Huntington ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
West Sabine ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Burkeville ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Broaddus ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Buna ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Woodville ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Spurger ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Warren ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns and are monitoring for weather conditions on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026.
Newton ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather. Updates on return dates will be announced.
Jasper ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns, including ice accumulation and extreme cold. Updates for Tuesday will be announced as conditions are monitored.
Kirbyville CISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to anticipated unsafe travel conditions related to winter weather.
San Augustine ISD will be closed closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Nacogdoches ISD will be closed closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
Colmesneil ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to winter weather concerns.
First Baptist Christian School in Jasper will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, and will have a late start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, due to weather concerns.
Warren ISD announced there will be NO Saturday School at Warren High School on Saturday, January 24, citing impending weather conditions.
Newton ISD announced that Saturday School is canceled on Saturday, January 24.
Broaddus ISD announced the Homecoming Dance has been rescheduled, citing inclement weather. The new date and time is: Thursday 1/22/2026 | 7 PM to 9 PM.
Jasper High School announced the Jasper Baseball Banquet has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The event will now be held Friday, Saturday 7, 2026, with doors opening at 6 p.m.
Hemphill ISD will play its basketball games against Colmesneil earlier Friday, starting at 11 a.m. with the JV girls, due to weather uncertainty.
Zavalla ISD announced that Friday’s district basketball games have been moved earlier due to weather concerns. Varsity Girls will tip off at 5 p.m. vs. Apple Springs, followed by Varsity Boys.
San Augustine Secondary The JH West Sabine basketball tournament originally set for Jan. 24 has been moved to Jan. 31 due to impending weather, according to San Augustine Secondary.
Jasper High School announced multiple athletic schedule adjustments, according to Coach Crumedy.

District officials encourage families and athletes to continue monitoring official communications for any additional updates.
Newton Youth Basketball announced that all youth basketball games scheduled for Saturday, January 24, have been canceled, according to Coach Mays.
Games will resume Saturday, January 31, using the same schedule originally planned for Jan. 24, with Leesville attending. The canceled games will not be rescheduled, leaving two games remaining in the season.
To ensure accurate planning for Awards Day on February 14, league officials will begin collecting the names of players still participating during the Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 games.
Practices are expected to resume Monday, weather permitting. Families are encouraged to continue monitoring updates and stay safe.
Chester ISD: The junior high basketball tournament set for Saturday in Burkeville has been canceled due to expected weather.
Colmesneil ISD has announced a time change for Friday’s basketball games vs. Hemphill. Games will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at RB Moffett Gymnasium.
Longview ISD has released updated athletic schedules due to potential inclement weather, including cancellations and adjusted game times.
