Saturday Weather Update: Round 2 of Storms Expected Tonight Across Deep East Texas

After a strong line of storms moved through early this morning, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain across Jasper, Newton, and Tyler Counties, the National Weather Service (Lake Charles) is warning that another round of severe weather is likely later tonight into early Sunday morning.
Round 2 Expected Tonight
The next wave of storms is expected to develop late this evening and move east overnight.
6 PM – 9 PM: Western Tyler County and areas near Woodville
8 PM – 1 AM: Jasper, Buna, Kirbyville, and surrounding communities
10 PM – 4 AM: Newton County and into western Louisiana
Threats and Risks
The NWS Severe Weather Outlook places the tri-county region under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather, meaning scattered severe storms are possible.
Damaging winds (15–29% chance) are the main threat.
Large hail (5–9% chance) and isolated tornadoes (2–9% chance) remain possible.
Heavy rainfall (½″–4″ widespread, up to 6″ localized) could lead to flash flooding in low-lying or poor-drainage areas.
Rain Totals & Outlook
Rain is expected to taper off on Sunday, with conditions gradually improving by late afternoon.
Forecasters say total rainfall for the weekend could range between 2–4 inches, with locally higher totals.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for parts of Southeast Texas.
Small Craft Advisory for coastal and inland waters.
Residents are urged to:
Keep phones charged and alerts enabled overnight.
Have multiple ways to receive warnings if issued while sleeping.
Never drive through flooded roads — Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
