Roganville VFD put 'Punisher' on the tracks to get the job done!

Thursday morning at 10:17, Roganville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a ground cover fire on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe or BNSF railroad track 1/2 mile north of the CR 429 crossing.

RVFD Chief Mile Smith said. "Upon arrival, it was learned that we could not access the fire by road so after gaining permission from BNSF, we put 'Punisher' on the track and headed north. The fire ended up being closer to 2 miles up track".

Smith said that the fire was close to containment on its own and looked to have been burning for quite some time. "Several crossties were burned completely up under the track along with approximately 1/2 acre. We responded with 2 brush units and 5 personnel" Smith said.
