EVADALE, Texas — A 25-year-old Spring man was arrested Tuesday in Evadale after deputies recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Deputy Matt Harrell with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to Smurfit Westrock in Evadale regarding a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, owned by Enterprise Rental, had previously been reported stolen through the Beaumont Police Department.
During the investigation, Deputy Harrell identified Dewayne Davis Jr., 25, of Spring, as the individual in possession of the vehicle. Authorities determined Davis Jr. had been in possession of the vehicle for an extended period of time. Enterprise Rental had followed all required procedures to have the vehicle returned; however, Davis Jr. allegedly refused to return it.
Based on the investigation, Davis Jr. was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony) and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
As with all criminal cases, Davis Jr. is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Chuck Havard stated that he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity and protecting the residents and businesses of Jasper County.
