Port Arthur woman was arrested Saturday near Kirbyville for Failure to Render Aid and DWI

Kirbyville, TX A Port Arthur woman was arrested near Kirbyville Saturday afternoon following a collision when she failed to stop and render aid and tried to flee the scene.


The wreck occurred just before 2:54 pm on Hwy 96 near Cr 400, south of Kirbyville.


According to the Department of Public Safety report, 36-year-old Leanne Kerr was driving a 2008 Buick passenger car and was traveling north when she rear-ended the vehicle in front of her. After impact, Kerr attempted to flee by making a u-turn to travel south, but her vehicle became disabled on the west side of the road.


Once the Trooper made contact with Kerr, he noticed signs of intoxication, which resulted in her arrest.


Kerr was charged with Driving While Intoxicated-3rd or more, which is a felony offense, and Fail to Stop and Render Aid or Give Information, which is a misdemeanor offense. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
