Polk County arrested man trafficking narcotics and confiscated large quantity of drugs

LIVINGSTON, TX-

On Wednesday, June 25th, Polk County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division, with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, and the Livingston Police Department, executed a search and arrest warrant at 111 S. Drew Street in Livingston. The warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation regarding alleged narcotics trafficking at that address.

Michael Dewayne Montgomery was identified as the primary suspect in the sale of narcotics from the location.


Investigators recovered:


Approximately 5 ounces of crack cocaine


Approximately 1 ounce of powdered cocaine


Approximately 2.5 ounces of pressed methamphetamine pills


Approximately 1 pound of synthetic marijuana


Approximately 1 ounce of marijuana


Digital scales and packaging materials commonly used in the distribution of narcotics


One firearm which was located near the narcotics


Montgo was arrested and charged with:


1.Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance in PG1 >4g<200g


2.Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance in PG1 >4g<200g


3. Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance in PG1 >4g<200g


4.Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance in PG2a >4g<400g


5. Abandon/Endanger Child (Criminal Negligence)


6. Unlawful Possession of firearm by felon


7.Warrant for Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance in PG1 <1g


Because a firearm was located near and in connection with the large quantity of drugs, this could enhance pending charges under state and/or federal law.


Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.


According to the press release, Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons and Chief Deputy Anthony Lowrie reaffirm their commitment to aggressively pursuing individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade, stating that the Sheriff’s Office will continue working with allied agencies to hold offenders accountable and protect the citizens of Polk County.
