ROSE CITY, TEXAS — ROSE CITY, TEXAS — A 48-year-old Southeast Texas man has been indicted in connection with the death of Bami Carmane, a 61-year-old mother and longtime nurse found deceased inside a residence near Vidor in August.
Adrian Caesar Echevarria has been charged with murder and aggravated sexual assault, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. A grand jury returned the indictment on November 5, 2025, after what investigators described as a detailed, multi-agency investigation.

Echevarria was arraigned the following day.
Bond on the murder charge: $2,000,000
Bond on the aggravated sexual assault charge: $500,000
No bond permitted on unrelated state and federal parole violations
He remains in custody.
Echevarria had recently been released from federal prison and was initially arrested on the parole violations before being identified as a person of interest in Carmane’s death.
Carmane was found on August 21, 2025, inside a home in the Rose City area. Investigators noted visible trauma. The cause of death has been withheld pending final forensic reporting.
In a written statement, Orange County Sheriff Bobby Smith credited the Criminal Investigation Division, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers for their work on the case.
“Following a lengthy and thorough investigation by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, a case stemming from the August 21, 2025, death of Bami Carmane in Vidor, Texas, was presented by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office to the Grand Jury,” Sheriff Smith stated.
“The Grand Jury returned a true bill indicting Adrian C. Echevarria for Murder and Aggravated Sexual Assault.”
To help with funeral and memorial expenses, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been created by the family.
Donations are being collected to relieve the financial burden during what relatives describe as an overwhelming period of grief.
