Obituary Of Tommy L. Mackey

October 30, 1943 - May 12, 2025

Tommy Lee Mackey, 81, of Woodville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025 at Woodville Health & Rehab Center in Woodville, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. There will be a small Family gathering in the Hill Country to share and cherish the memories of his life!

Tommy was born October 30, 1943 to Earl Lee and Amye Boen Mackey in Cleburne, Texas and raised in Godley, Texas. He attended Tarleton State College and graduated from Sam Houston State majoring in Agriculture. He worked for Natural Resources and Conservation Service as a Soil Conservationist for 35 years.

Tommy met his wife Ann while attending Godley Elementary School. They attended the same schools together and married while completing their college degrees. After retirement, they spent time traveling extensively throughout North America.

Tommy was a people person and never met a stranger. He was a master storyteller telling his tales while punching you on the shoulder. His hobbies were fishing, bird hunting, and golfing.

He followed his sons in all sports never missing a sporting event and served as a mentor to kids who needed one. He was so proud of his sons and their accomplishments in adult life.

Tommy’s greatest pride and joy was his four grandchildren and great grandchild and never missed any of their life events. He spent quality time with them and took them on summer and winter vacations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Amye Mackey; sisters, Betty Mackey, and Elaine Hutchison.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Mackey of Woodville; sons, Jeff Mackey of Houston and Scott Mackey of Dayton; grandchildren, Haley, Aidan, Aethan, Hannah and Micah; and great granddaughter, Parker Ann.

Cremation services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
