Ruthie Nell Poncho Padilla, 91, of Livingston, passed away on November 8, 2025.
Ruthie was born on November 12, 1933, on the Indian Reservation to Folsom and Taia (John) Poncho. She attended Big Sandy ISD and completed the ninth grade. She became a babysitter for a family who lived in the Houston area. While working in Houston, she met Antonio Padilla, who was a refinery worker. They married and settled in Pasadena, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Antonio Padilla; brothers, Chap Cain Poncho, Robert Poncho, Mario Snider Poncho, and Needham Poncho; sisters, Jennie Lee (Poncho) Thompson, and nephews, Steven Poncho, Clinton Rydall Williams, and Michael Patrick Poncho.
Ruthie is survived by her brother, Elwin Poncho, and wife, Elizabeth of Spurger; sisters, Lenora Williams of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation; sisters-in-law, Mary Poncho of Woodville and Joyce Poncho of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation; nephews, Roby, Harvey, Eric, Stewart, Elgin, Richard and Marcus; nieces, Julie, Bernita, Vanessa, Cheryl, Rashyal, Sylvia, Minerva, Kim and Charla; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1 pm at the Riley Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 am until 1 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roby Williams, Stewart Poncho, Richard Thompson, Zachary Williams, Troy Langley, Laine Langley, Elgin Poncho, and Sean Williams. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Williams, Frank Sylestine, Talon Williams, Marcus Thompson, Michael Reyna, Eric Poncho, Bartholomew Sylestine, Cole Poncho, Patrick Battise, Lucas Williams, and Jonathon Williams.
