Obituary of Ronnie Leonard Franklin

Ronnie Leonard Franklin, 79, of Buna, Texas, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was born on May 22, 1946.

Ronnie was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family deeply. He was a strong, compassionate, and honest man whose word was always his bond. He truly never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Ronnie proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran. Throughout his life, he gave selflessly to his community, serving on many boards and committees, including Buna Independent School District, Buna Little League, and Buna Little Dribblers. His love for children and sports was evident through his own sons and through the many children he mentored and encouraged in the Buna and Evadale communities.

He is survived by his children: Tracy Franklin and wife Mercy, Toy Akridge and husband Donnie, and Troy Franklin and wife Christi; his grandchildren: Chase Franklin, Braden Franklin, Madison Uzzle, Ethan Franklin, Matthew Akridge, Kyle Franklin, Rylee Franklin Briseno, and Hallie Franklin; and his great-grandchildren: Laramie Sheppard, Alexander Franklin, Natalie Uzzle, Callan Uzzle, Charlie Akridge, and Cooper Akridge. He is also survived by his sister, Tonja Tatom and husband Larry, as well as

his nephews, nieces, and many beloved cousins. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dorothy Franklin; his brother, Wayne Franklin; and his beloved wife, Patricia Franklin.

Services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle, located at 363 FM 105, Evadale, Texas. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Morse Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chase Franklin, Braden Franklin, Ethan Franklin, Matthew Akridge, Kyle Franklin, and Luke Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Tatom and Hunter Uzzle. Ronnie is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
