A Celebration of Rodney Earl Smith’s Life, age 78, of Jasper, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Peachtree Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Pace Stancil Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.
Rodney died on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Harbor Hospice of East Texas in Jasper and was a longtime resident of Jasper, Texas. Rodney worked for Tennessee Gas Pipeline for over twenty six years. He was a graduate of Spring Woods High School of Houston, Texas and a US Army veteran. Rodney met Dianne and married on November 15, 1974 in Houston, Texas. He was a coin collector and loved working outside on the farm with his cows and horses. Rodney was a very active member of Peachtree Baptist Church and a former substitute teacher of Jasper Independent School District. His most special times were spent with family and grandchildren.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianne Smith of Jasper, Texas; mother-in-law, Barbara Sears of Jasper, Texas; daughters, Brandi Stutts and husband Danny of Tarkington Prairie, Texas and Crystal Gentry and husband Tad of Jasper, Texas; brothers, Rick Smith of Corsicana, Texas, Barry Smith and wife Miranda of Angleton, Texas and Randy Smith and wife Kathy of Grapeland, Texas; grandchildren; Laken Benefield, Caleb Hamilton, Taylor Stutts, Caitlyn Stutts, Makaila Stutts, Blayne Gentry, Carys Gentry, Trayce Gentry and one great-grandchild, Cora Lynn Roush.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Joyce Smith; brother, Doug Smith and daughter, Neisha Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Peachtree Baptist Church, 216 FM 254 North, Jasper, Texas 75951.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
